Gore is an Associate Professor of accountancy at the George Washington University’s School of Business, and a research affiliate with the George Washington Institute of Public Policy. Her primary research interests include the intersection of accounting, economics, and public policy. During her visit she is involved in doctoral studies and collaborates with faculty.
Gore’s recent research examines the relation between public sector unions and accounting transparency; public sector manager severance packages; and the relationship between accounting restatements and governance in the municipal bond market. She has published in leading academic journals such as The Accounting Review, the Journal of Law and Economics, the Strategic Management Journal, and the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and currently serves as an editorial board member of the Journal of Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting.
The recipient of several teaching awards, Professor Gore has taught advanced financial accounting and auditing for both the University of Oregon and the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she received her Ph.D. Prior to her career in academics, she spent eight years as a practicing CPA, including as an auditor for Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst and Young), a financial analyst for Tenneco (a Fortune 50 company), and in an accounting practice with her sister in Michigan.
