Professor of Corporate Governance & Accountability Jill Solomon (Department of Management, King’s College London, University of London) visits Turku School of Economics 11 Aug – 19 Aug at the Department of Accounting and Finance. Her primary research interests include institutional investor communications, stakeholder accountability, pension fund governance and sustainability issues in accounting and finance.
Before moving to King’s College in 2009, Jill lectured at Cardiff University and Sheffield University. She gained a PhD from the University of Manchester in 1996 in International Finance. She enjoys an active involvement in corporate governance and accountability developments both in the academic and practitioner spheres and chairs the British Accounting Association Special Interest Group on Corporate Governance. Jill’s recent professional activities include acting as a guest editor (together with professor Michael J. Jones, University of Bristol) for Accounting Auditing & Accountability Journal (Special Issue: Accounting for Biodiversity) and would welcome papers. She is also conducting Symposium for the British Accounting and Finance Association on Shareholder Accountability & the Stewardship Code.
Jill is active in research and is looking forward to meet with people, discuss research and possible joint research activities. During the visit Jill is willing to share her views with current themes in corporate governance and accountability including private climate change reporting and impression management in reporting. In order to support these purposes of interaction and acquaintance, Jill will present and share on her research areas and profile on Tuesday 16 Aug between 10-12 in room LS08 at the Turku School of Economics.
