Prof. Stefan Zagelmeyer visited Management and Organization

Professor Stefan Zagelmeyer (International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef-Bonn, Germany) visited management and organization on 8 – 24 January, 2011. During his visit Professor Zagelmeyer gave lectures on Strategic International Human Resource Management and visited a research seminar in management and organisation, where he gave a presentation on the link between British companies’ degree of internationalization, their HRM practices and HRM outcomes.

Zagelmeyer has built a successful career within the field of International Human Resource Management (IHRM) and Industrial Relations (IR). He has acted as a researcher and a lecturer in several European top universities. He also coordinates the HRM Study group of the IIRA (International Industrial Relations Association).

In addition to lecturer, Zagelmeyer is also an active researcher. He has authored books directed to IR/HRM practitioners and published in most of the key journals in the field. Specifically, he has highlighted the employer perspective in the research on labour market practices and HRM. In recent years he has focused on studying how the global financial crisis has affected HRM policies and practices in different countries.

Zagelmeyer didn’t visit TSE first time, but as the coordinator of IIRA HRM Study Group he played a key role in making ‘HRM Global-2008: Sustainable HRM in the Global Economy’ -conference, held in Turku autumn 2008, a real success. Since then cooperation with prof. Zagelmeyer has been tightened. Special symposia on HRM and the financial crisis that are run by the HRM study group at the IIRA congresses are a continuum of the Turku sustainable HRM conference.
