Business Development Laboratory (BDL) awarded for innovative teaching

The Turku School of Economics (TSE) course ”Business development laboratory: turning ideas into business” has been awarded for innovative teaching methods applied. The national award was granted by the SEFE The Finnish Association of Business School Graduates.

The Business Development Laboratory concept has been developed in cooperation between the Turku School of Economics and the University of Turku (UTU), which are to be merged next year, and it combines the strengths of each institution. A partner in the cooperation has also been the Turku Science Park.

– The honorable mention is an acknowledgement of the innovative teaching developed by us and appreciated by the students. At the background of the success is the cooperation between the university and business communities, which has benefited all parties, says project manager Vesa Hautala, who has been working on the Business Development Laboratory right from the beginning.

The purpose of the Business Development Laboratory is to promote research-based business activities. In the BDL the students of TSE and the law students of UTU work together with university researchers to commercialize the business ideas of the researchers.

SEFE has awarded the course of the Turku School of Economics also earlier. Among those are e.g. the courses Culture and International Management (2007) and Managing International Business Strategies (2003).
