UK based Emerald group publishing selects annually the best published research paper and couple of highly recommended papers for each of its international journals. Concerning year 2008, in the journal of Industrial Management and Data Systems, Emerald has selected as an “Outstanding Paper Award” winner research manuscript titled as “Supply Chain Challenges of North-European Paper Industry”, which is authored by Pekka Koskinen and Olli-Pekka Hilmola.
Research deals about paper industry supply chain challenges by observing four chains starting from Finland and ending up to UK and USA. Research bases its argumentation on the large-scale quantitative database, which is gathered from number of different operative IT systems.
Awarded manuscript is part of Koskinen’s forthcoming doctoral dissertation work, which is having its public examination in June 30, 2009 in Turku School of Economics. The dissertation work belongs to the field of logistics. Hilmola is supervisor of this dissertation through his affiliation as an Adjunct Professor in Logistics Programme.
