TSE found best in comparison of universities by Central Chamber of Commerce

Turku School of Economics was ranked first in a comparison of universities by Finland’s Central Chamber of Commerce. Finnish universities were compared with each other from the corporate perspective.

The survey by the Central Chamber of Commerce covered all of Finland’s educational fields. The starting point in the study concerned the basic tasks of universities – in other words, teaching and research – which were compared on a national basis. Fields of interest to business life were assessed more precisely in the comparison: those related to the economic sciences, technology and science, law and the field of instruction in the natural sciences at various universities.

The gauges used in the study were, among others:

  • effective basic education
  • students’ interest
  • pedagogical resources
  • instructors’ competence
  • international exchange
  • education that corresponds to the needs of the labour market
  • research that is attractive from the perspective of business enterprises
  • effective researcher training
  • research productivity.

The time frame for the study was 2001–2006. The research was carried out by ETLA, the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy.
