The Turku School of Economics, which is part of the University of Turku, is organising a 60th anniversary degree conferment ceremony from 13 to 15 May 2010. TSE will confer honorary doctorates on eight people who represent science and business. All those invited to receive honorary doctorates are united by the fact that they are significant actors in their fields and have co-operated actively with the Turku School of Economics.
- These representatives of their disciplines nominated by different departments are long-term partners, and all are professors, pioneers or innovators in their field and are highly respected by the international science community, says Professor Satu Lähteenmäki, Director of the Turku School of Economics.
She thinks that those nominated as honorary doctorates are also an indication of the scope and high level of the international networking of the researchers at TSE.
- The fact that half of the people being acknowledged as significant influences on the business community are alumni of the Turku School of Economics is an encouraging sign of the quality of our researcher education. The common feature of those receiving honorary doctorates in science and business is entrepreneurship, which is a target of interest both in research and business, says Professor Antti Paasio, conferrer of the degrees at the ceremony.
This will be the fifth such conferment ceremony in the history of the Turku School of Economics. The first was held in 1989.
