Turku School of Economics (TSE) placed second in the Student’s University survey, immediately following the University of Helsinki. The current survey was the third of its kind. All Finnish universities were included.
According to the research study, the areas of strength associated with Turku School of Economics were the studying-related processes, in which TSE rose to top position, and the infrastructure for studying, where TSE was ranked second.
With regard to the studying-related processes, the students assessed, e.g., various guidance systems for studies, the information publicly available from the university, and questions concerning impartiality.
Practical arrangements supporting the smoothness of studying were, on the other hand, characterized by means of the infrastructure for studying. In these, the students evaluated, for example, the adequacy of information technology-related resources and the availability of group work facilities and library services as well as support services.
From the student’s perspective – with a practical approach
The assessment focused on factors affecting studies from the student’s perspective, with a practical approach. The purpose of this research was to create a broad picture of what studying at universities is like. The research data were collected primarily for the students’ unions by means of targeted specialist inquiry.
The organizers and implementers behind the survey were the National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL), the Finnish Student Sports Federation (OLL), the Finnish students’ unions and Otus (the research foundation of the student associations).
