Finnish municipalities have systematically improved their environmental performance for years. As part of this work, the six biggest cities of Finland have agreed upon a set of common indicators. One of these indicators is employees’ environmental attitude survey.
The aim of this project was to create an environmental attitude and activity questionnaire for municipalities’ own use. Also, the municipality employees’ environmental attitudes were surveyed in this project. The cities of Espoo, Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Oulu, Tampere, Turku and Vantaa participated in this project. The questionnaire is based on the previous environmental attitude surveys.
Altogether 11024 employees answered the questionnaire. The responders had highly positive attitudes towards environmental issues and also positive attitude towards environmental activities. No major differences emerged when comparing the results with the background information, such as gender, age, level of education.
More information about the project can be found from the research report that will be published in the beginning of 2008.
