Comparative studies on state, sector and product levels

The aim of the project was to create a systematic model for assessing the eco-efficiency of production and consumption patterns in Finland. Production and consumption chains were assessed through their whole life cycles from both micro and macro viewpoints. The expected outcomes of the project were advanced assessment procedures and methods that can be applied in assessing corporate eco-efficiency.
The project aimed at finding answers to following questions in particular:
- What kind of different forms and means of eco-efficiency there are?
- How can eco-efficiency be measured on corporate level?
- How could the indicators of micro and macro level be combined?
- How could eco-efficiency be integrated to the corporate strategic planning?
- What are the preconditions for Finland to become eco-efficient information society?
The project was funded by the National Technology Agency of Finland. The first phase of the project was carried out during 2003-2004 and the second phase during 2005-2006.
