In this study the contemporary structure of the environmental cluster in Pirkanmaa region and the possible changes in it were identified. The most essential agencies were recognized trough literature and interviews. To perceive an overview of the structure of the environmental cluster an internet based questionnaire directed at the essential parties were carried out.
The focus of the inquiry was on the scope of networking among cluster firms, on critical factors affecting the cluster and on the rising and extending business activities, technologies, and future innovations of the environmental cluster in the Pirkanmaa region.
The results of the inquiry were verified and specified through expert interviews. The interviews concentrated on possible future changes in business logic and course of action. In the last stage the key parties involved created development strategies for the environmental cluster in a Futures Workshop. The results of the study were presented in a report.
The cluster analysis was funded by the Employment and Economic Development Centre of Pirkanmaa and carried out during 2005.
