Research in Management and Organisation focuses on management in networks, and this is taken into account in the selection of postgraduate students as well. In addition to network management, postgraduate students in management and organisation may specialise in, e.g., strategic management, international management, human resource management, organisations and organisational cultures and corporate social responsibility.
Doctoral students in Management and Organisation have completed dissertations e.g., on career research, management of knowledge-intensive organisations, environmental management, shipyard subcontracting networks, mergers, risk management, entrepreneurship, cooperative systems, organisational symbolism, organisational learning, HRM and institutional forces in organisations.

An applicant for postgraduate studies is required to present his or her research idea as a structured research plan in writing. Preference is given to students whose Master’s thesis or other prior research merits indicate success in doctoral studies. In addition, it is in the interests of the faculty to recruit students who are willing to work with research themes that the senior researchers of the subject are also actively studying. This will guarantee the best possible supervisor support for doctoral students.
In the annual research seminar, doctoral students have the opportunity to present their research ideas and plans. The purpose of the seminar is to provide an arena for free interchange of thoughts and ideas for both new and more experienced postgraduates. Furthermore, seminars open up an opportunity to receive thorough feedback on an early plan or on a working paper.
