Logistics deals with the efficient management of three types of flows: materials, information and financial flows. The term logistics is commonly used to refer to transportation and warehousing, which probably are the most visible part of logistics operations of the companies.
Different aspects of logistics research include for example distribution, production control, transportation, supply chain management, as well as sales and operations management of the companies. For industry and trade, logistics is a cross-functional process connecting a company it to the suppliers and customers, thus insuring its competitiveness on the international markets.
In Turku School of Economics, the logistics education and research concentrates on the supply chain management, transportation markets as well as the regional impacts and preconditions of logistics.
