The Master´s Degree Programme in Futures Studies will implement tuition fees to all non EU/EEA –citizens beginning August 2012. The tuition fee is 7000 euro per academic year. The university of Turku offers also scholarships for non-EU/EEA-citizens in this programme. There continues to be no tuition fee for EU/EEA citizens. There are no tuition fees/scholarships for
- citizens of EU/EEA (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) countries, citizens of Switzerland
- non-EU/EEA citizens who are equivalent to a European Union citizens. The applicant must provide certification of being considered equivalent to a European Union Citizen
- non-EU/EEA citizens who have a right to permanent residence in Finland. The applicant must provide a photocopy of the residence permit.
Scholarships
University of Turku offers a limited number of scholarships for those students who are charged tuition fees (non-EU/EEA citizens, see exact details above) and who are selected to the Master´s Degree Programme in Futures Studies. The scholarships will be allocated in order of merit and need of financial support.
The scholarship covers a tuition fee waiver and a 500 euro monthly allowance, paid for 10 months each academic year. The scholarship can be allocated to 1-3 students who have succeeded well in their previous studies and who are in need of financial support. The scholarship is given for the whole study time (2 academic years). In order to receive the scholarship for the second study year the students must finish 45 credits of studies with an average grade of 3 (out of 1-5) or better during the first three study periods and the student must also be motivated to study and finish their degree in the University of Turku.
If a student has not succeeded in gaining the required amount of credits during the first three study periods of their first study year, the student will not receive the scholarship for the second study year. This also means, that the student will have to pay the full tuition fee for the second year of studies.
The scholarship is paid monthly to the students’ Finnish bank account beginning from the time the student is enrolled into the university and has begun their studies in the master´s degree programme.
Applying for a scholarship
Applicants from outside the EU/EEA applying for a scholarship to finance their studies and receive a waiver of the tuition fee must apply for the scholarship at the same time as when applying for the masters degree programme. An applicant applying with a Finnish degree will fill an additional application form together with the Application form for Masterś Degree Programme GIM, GITM, FUTU. Applicants applying with a foreign degree will apply for the scholarship through the University Admissions Finland system.
The questions asked from applicants will be graded according to the information found in the file attached at the bottom of this page. The 1-3 students who receive the highest number of points will receive the scholarship. If an applicant has not stated that he/she is applying for a scholarship or is not in need of financial support, the possible motivation letter or previous studies will not be graded.
According to the 84§ of the Finnish University Legislation, the decisions are final and an applicant does not have the right to appeal.
