Cooperation and networks

BID has strong cooperation networks on the regional, national and international level; it has over 200 partners in over 50 countries.

International partners and networks of experts

Among the international partners are expert firms, top units in academic research and public organizations. A significant part of the research funding comes from the European Commission, and we have also worked in expert tasks under the commission of the UN.

BID is also acting as a member of important international networks such as:

  • The ICSB network: The International Council for Small Business is a worldwide network of researchers in Entrepreneurship. For more information, see www.icsb.org.
  • The ECSB network: The European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship is an European network of researchers in Entrepreneurship, which is a part of the ICSB. The secretariat of the ECSB is located at BID. For more information, see www.ecsb.org.

Cooperation on the regional and national level

We work in close cooperation with the Finnish universities and can thus provide our partners with expert services all the way from the commercialization of ideas to supporting the growth of companies. The University of Art and Design Helsinki and the IT Laboratory of the University of Turku at TUCS (Turku Centre of Computer Science) are some of our closest partners.

We carry out R&D work for example with the Academy of Finland, different ministries, TEKES (the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation), Sitra (the Finnish Innovation Fund) and various different foundations. We also cooperate with the development organizations and societies of the regional government.
