Futures studies courses
Starting in 2008 Finland Futures Academy (FFA) offers graduate students a study programme of 25 ects credits both in Finnish and in English. Courses are offered in one-year cycles in Finnish and international partner universities. The course palette varies in each university.
The study programme in English includes the following courses:
- Futures1: How Can We Explore the Future? (6 ECTS cr). The course offers basic knowledge of futures studies.
- Futures2: Futures Research Methods (8 ECTS cr). The aim is to understand and use various methodologies and methods in futures studies.
- Futures3: Futures Research in Practise (3/8 ECTS cr). The students will learn how to argue in a scientific manner and how to assess scientific argumentation as well as how to evaluate research.
- Futures4: Changing Futures Theme (3/8 ECTS cr). The aim is to familiarize students with current academic futures research on a specific topic such as foresight management, futures scanning, scenario building and strategies for sustainable futures.
Finland Futures Research Centre offers a two-year master’s degree programme in futures studies together with its mother university, Turku School of Economics (TSE). The master's degree programme is organised in English.
Responsible business programme
The Centre for Responsible Business, which is operating in the Finland Futures Research Centre, offers a study programme on responsible business. The programme is available for first degree students at TSE. There is also a possibility for others to participate in these courses through the open university.
Summer courses
Finland Futures Academy organises an annual international conference together with the FFRC. The conference is accompanied with a summer school following the current topic of the conference and the students participate in the conference presentations and workshops. The summer school is open for all graduate and postgraduate students whose interest lie in futures studies.
