The Library’s collections consist of both printed and online materials. After the turn of the millennium, the main emphasis in getting information has clearly been directed towards e-materials.
The Library as a whole includes the reading room, distant and textbook collections, as well as the collections that belong to the department. Except for the department collections, the books are available for use by all Library clients. The books in the departments are meant only for research and instruction by the staff in the department concerned.
The Library database for Turku University is called Volter. Via Volter the client can search for information and availability of the books and journals belonging to the collections of Library. Reservations can also be made for books that are on loan, and personal loans can be renewed.
